This covers the BALAY website. The app has its own privacy policy, which you agree to when you install it.
The only things this website collects are what you type into the waitlist form, and a count of visits if you agree to it. There is no advertising and nothing is tracked across other sites.
One thing is saved in your browser, on your device: whether you chose light or dark. It never leaves your computer.
One entry, called balay-appearance, holding the word "light" or "dark". It remembers the appearance toggle in the footer so the page does not flash the wrong colours next time.
It stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes it. The cookie policy explains how.
The waitlist form asks for a first name and an email address, and for you to tick a box saying we may email you. All three are needed before it will send.
What we do with them. Your name and address go onto a mailing list held by Squarespace, who run our email for us. We use the name to say hello properly, and the address to tell you when BALAY is on the App Store and to send occasional news about it. That is the whole of it: we do not use the list for anything else.
Why we are allowed to. Your consent, which is the box you ticked. You can take it back at any time and we have to stop.
How to get off it. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also email us and ask, and we will delete you rather than just stop sending.
How long we keep it. Until you unsubscribe, or until the launch emails have gone out and the list has served its purpose, whichever comes first.
We do not sell the list, share it, or pass it to anyone besides Squarespace, who only hold it so that we can send the email. Ticking the box signs you up to hearing about BALAY, and nothing else.
If the form ever fails, nothing you typed is kept: the page tells you it failed and offers you our address instead.
Sumi answers from a fixed list of questions and answers built into the page. What you type stays in your browser, is not sent anywhere, and is gone when you close the tab.
Sumi is an AI companion, not a clinician. The helper on this site cannot see any account, because there is nothing for it to see.
If you agree to it, Google Analytics counts visits so we can see which pages are read and whether anything is broken. It records the page, roughly where in the world the request came from, and what kind of device it was.
Nothing loads until you agree. Say no and the script is never fetched, so Google is never told you were here at all. You can change your mind on the cookie page.
Advertising features are turned off, your address is shortened before it is stored, and none of it is used to build a profile of you or followed across other websites.
The site is served by our hosting provider, who keeps standard server logs for security and reliability. Those logs include the address of the device making a request and which page it asked for.
We do not use those logs to build a picture of individual visitors. The sub-processors page lists who is involved.
If you email us, we hold that message and your address so we can reply. We keep it while it is useful and then delete it.
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. For this website that is usually a short conversation, because the only thing we are likely to hold is an email you sent us.
Email hello@balay.tech and we'll deal with it. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
BALAY the app holds what you put into it: your check-ins, tasks, habits and conversations with Sumi. That is covered by the app's own privacy policy, not this one.

We read everything that comes in, and we'll come back to you.

The mail app link only works if this device has one set up. If it does nothing, copy the address instead.
BALAY isn't on the App Store yet. Leave your name and email and we'll tell you the day it is.
Your name and email go on our mailing list and nowhere else. We don't sell them and we don't pass them on. How we handle it.
You're on the list. Check your email for a note confirming it, and have a look in spam if it isn't there.
Change your mind whenever you like. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your details by writing to the address.
Something at our end stopped it, and it wasn't anything you typed. Try again, or email the address and we'll add you by hand.
